Bayliner lands on top of Dodge Ram’s cab

suddenstop This is a great example of boat hauling gone wrong. I don’t know the details of this Bayliner jumping over the trailer on the cab of this Dodge Ram, but once can assume it was not on purpose. This Labor Day weekend, be safe and avoid crashing in to things with your truck. Or next time, Lake Boss could be posting pictures of your boat’s acrobatics.

Check out the full gallery here.

Sinking wake boats – oh the humanity!

Sinking wake boatSeeing a boat full of water is like seeing an empty cooler full of water, nobody is going to have fun after this happens. The Wake Board Report has a gallery of absolute sinking wake board carnage. I am not sure if this is a commentary on wake board boat owners or if the site’s readers just happen to be a little faster with a camera than most. I decided to shield the eyes of the innocent by only showing a boat with half of a chance of survival. There are several more boats that are doing their best impersonation of the Titanic.

New boaters’ guide to backing down the ramp

Boat ramp gone badSuccessfully launching your boat depends on being able to back it down a launch ramp. Ramps are a huge frustration to those who have difficultly backing up a trailer. It is even more true for the next guy in line watching the attempts. Smooth operation of a launch ramp depends on the ability of users and adequate preparation before nearing the ramp. Rushing at the launch intensifies as the number of boats in line increases. Users get in a hurry. The drain plugs are not put in, the boat rolls off the trailer or a hitch comes loose causing the whole works to go down the ramp and into the drink.

Here’s a few tips to help those who have trouble with the trailer or are new to trailer boating.

25 Fantastic Boat Names

I think everyone on the water enjoys a witty double entendre when it comes to a great boat name. This list of images on Banned is sure to get a chuckle or two from you.

I’m still working on a great boat name for my boat (a year so far nameless). I think a hilarious double meaning is important. Also very important is making sure that the boat’s name doesn’t sound very ironic if there’s some horrible boat accident and its name appears in the headline of the newspaper.

What is the most peaceful place around?

Lake Belton
I have been doing a lot of driving lately. Along with the driving has come a lot thinking. Thinking about my restoration project, work and life in general. While driving I keep noticing a feeling that I got every time I passed by a lake. It is a completely peaceful feeling. The lake is like my quiet spot, since I don’t drink or anything else, this is my way to relax. I have also noticed that we are very lucky around where I live in the Austin, TX area. There are a huge amount of lakes within a two hour drive.

Tow trucks love boating too!

Tow trucks love boating too!  This tow truck was an unusual site at Lake Travis backing down the ramp with its two jet skis. Looks like someone wanted to make god damn fucking sure they could winch their jet ski back on the trailer.
